Help keep our neighbourhood rinks safe and ready for skaters this season. This free workshop teaches community volunteers the basics of ice rink maintenance and winter safety procedures. Whether you have experience or are just starting out, you will learn how to prepare an ice surface, manage snow and ice buildup, and set up safe spectator areas.
During the session, you will practice using standard rink equipment, review safety checklists for winter operations, and discuss how to report hazards to City Services. You will also learn about the seasonal maintenance schedule for Fallsview Riverside Rink and other community sites across Wrenford.
Registration is required so we can provide enough equipment and materials. Bring a warm jacket, winter gloves, and sturdy boots. The workshop will be held at Fallsview Riverside Rink, where you will see the ice resurfacing tools and safety signage used daily. Accessible pathways and washrooms are available near the main entrance.
