Join a park naturalist for a guided nature walk through Wildrye Park to learn how to spot and identify birds in the winter. This free event is designed for families with school-age children, but everyone is welcome.

Meet at the main trailhead at 90 Wildrye Drive on December 9, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. You will learn how to read bird tracks, recognise common winter species like chickadees and nuthatches, and use basic field guides. The walk covers about one kilometre on packed snow and gravel trails. The pace is relaxed, with frequent stops to listen and look.

Because it is December in Wrenford, dress warmly in layers. Wear waterproof boots and bring gloves and a hat. Binoculars are welcome, but you can borrow a pair from the park staff if you do not have your own. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Registration is required so we can plan for group size and safety. Register online through the Recreation & Culture portal or call 519-555-0100. Walk-ups are welcome if space allows.

The trail is generally accessible, but snow and ice may require sturdy footwear. If you have specific mobility needs, contact us at 519-555-0100 and we will suggest the best starting point or alternative route. For more on our trails and seasonal programs, visit Parks & Trails and Programs.
