Get ready to glide! The City is hosting a free Family Day Weekend Ice Skating Festival at Tamarack South Park. This all-ages event is a great way to spend a Saturday morning and afternoon with your family and neighbours.
What to expect
The park will have a packed ice surface ready for skating. You can bring your own skates or rent a pair at the entrance. There will be light music playing through speakers, and a hot drink stand will be on site. You can buy hot chocolate and coffee, or bring your own thermos.
Dress warmly in layers, a hat, gloves, and sturdy boots. The park has accessible washrooms, and there will be benches and sheltered areas for warming up. If you use a mobility aid, the packed snow and ice paths are cleared for easy movement.
Weather and safety
We only skate when the ice is thick enough and the weather is safe. If there is a storm warning or the ice melts, we will cancel the event. Check the Service Alerts page or call 311 for updates.
No registration is needed. Just show up, lace up, and enjoy the winter air. We look forward to seeing you at the rink!
