Get your community garden ready for the cold months ahead. This free workshop is for anyone who tends a plot or wants to help keep our shared green spaces in good shape. We will cover how to clear out old plants, protect the soil, and store your tools safely until spring.
What to expect
- How to safely dispose of plant waste and leftover soil
- Simple ways to cover your plot to keep nutrients in the ground
- Best practices for locking up shared tools and water shut-offs
- Q&A with our Parks and Trails team
Where and when
We will meet at Eastfield Park on Saturday, October 17, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The park has level paths and accessible washrooms nearby. If you need a parking pass or have mobility questions, just let us know when you register.
How to register
Space is limited, so please sign up online or call 311 (or 519-555-0100 from outside the city) by Thursday, October 15. Registration closes when we reach 30 participants. You do not need to bring anything except a notebook and a warm jacket.
Want to help out?
We are looking for volunteers to help clear the park's garden beds after the workshop. If you want to stick around and lend a hand, tell us when you sign up. Volunteers will get a Wrenford Parks & Trails t-shirt and a free pass to the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre for the month of November.
