Get ready for the 2027 growing season! Join us for a free workshop on soil preparation at Kingfisher Sports Field. Whether you have a plot in a community garden or a backyard patch, this session will help you build healthy soil for your vegetables and flowers.
You will learn how to test your soil, mix in compost, and choose the right amendments for your garden beds. Ben Achterberg, the Waste Programs Supervisor, will share tips on using green bin material to improve your soil structure. We will cover the best timing for spring prep, testing methods, and how to avoid common mistakes that can hurt your plants.
Bring your garden notebook and a shovel if you have one. We will also have sample soil kits to show you how simple testing can be.
