Step into the crisp September air and discover the trees that line our neighbourhoods. This guided walk takes you through the wooded trails of Ashgrove Hollow Park, where a local naturalist will show you how to tell maple from oak, and birch from poplar. You will learn why leaves change colour, how to read the seasonal shifts in our local forest, and where to find the best examples of each species right outside your door.

Because we will be walking on natural paths, please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and dress in layers for the weather. Bring a notebook or a smartphone if you would like to take photos or jot down notes. Children are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult.

This walk is free, but space is limited so you must register in advance. To sign up, visit the Recreation & Culture page or call 519-555-0100. We recommend arriving ten minutes early to check in with the program coordinator.

The trail at Ashgrove Hollow Park is mostly flat with some gravel and dirt sections. If you have mobility concerns or need an accessible route, please let us know when you register so we can adjust the path accordingly.

Whether you are a seasoned birder, a gardening enthusiast, or just want to enjoy the changing seasons, this walk offers a relaxed way to connect with the outdoors. Bring a friend and come explore the colours of Ashgrove.
