Opting out of emergency alerts
You can register to stop receiving emergency text messages and emails from the City of Wrenford. This process allows you to manage how you receive critical safety information. Please note that you cannot opt out of 9-1-1 emergency calls or landline-based emergency notifications. These channels remain active to ensure your safety during a crisis.
How to register your opt-out
To remove your contact information from the emergency alert list, you must complete the opt-out form. You can do this online or by mail.
Online: Visit the [[Sign up for emergency alerts | emergency alert registration page]] and select the option to opt out. You will need to provide your name, address, and the specific phone number or email address you wish to remove.
By mail or in person: Download the opt-out form from the [[Emergency management organization | Emergency Management section]] of our website. Fill out the form completely and bring it to City Hall or mail it to the Emergency Management Department. You can also call 519-555-0100 for assistance with the form.
Important considerations
By opting out, you may miss vital updates during severe weather, floods, or other emergencies. We strongly recommend keeping your contact information current if you choose to remain subscribed. If you have hearing or vision impairments, consider using [[Assistive alerting devices | assistive alerting devices]] instead of opting out entirely.
If you have already opted out but wish to receive alerts again, you can re-register at any time using the same methods listed above. There is no waiting period to change your preference.
Other ways to stay informed
Even if you opt out of digital alerts, you can still stay informed through other channels. Monitor local news outlets and the City’s official social media pages for updates. You can also check the [[Emergency plans and bylaws | emergency plans]] page for general preparedness guidelines.
For more information on preparing for emergencies, visit [[Build an emergency kit | Build an emergency kit]]. This resource provides a checklist of essential items to keep in your home.
If you have questions about the alert system or need help with the opt-out process, contact the Emergency Management Department at 519-555-0100 or email [email protected]. Our staff is available Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Remember, emergency alerts are designed to protect you and your family. Please review your preferences regularly to ensure they meet your current needs.
