Apply for community safety grants

Funding for registered groups and neighbourhood associations to run projects that improve local safety and wellbeing.

What you can do

Apply for funding to run a project that makes your neighbourhood safer and stronger. The Community Safety Grants program gives money to registered neighbourhood associations, community groups, and non-profits. You can use the grant to build connections between neighbours, support basic needs, reduce fear of crime, or improve safety in parks and on streets. We encourage projects that focus on youth, seniors, newcomers, and any residents who face barriers to feeling safe in their community.

How to apply

Visit the Community safety grants page to download the application package. You will need to submit a completed form, a project timeline, a line-item budget, and a letter of support from your board or a community partner. All proposals are reviewed by a panel that includes a City councillor, a representative from the Wrenford Police Service Headquarters, a public health advisor, and community members. You do not need to live in the ward where you plan to run the project, but you must show how the work benefits Wrenford residents.

Grant amounts and rules

We have $120,000 to share this year. You can apply for one of two tiers:

  • Neighbourhood Grant: Up to $15,000 for projects that benefit a single ward or subdivision.
  • City-Wide Grant: Up to $35,000 for projects that serve multiple areas or the whole city.

Previous recipients may re-apply to continue successful programs or expand their reach. Successful applicants must submit a final report and photos within 60 days of project completion. All work must follow the by-law and local safety standards. The City will not fund activities that promote violence or discrimination.
