About community support services
Wrenford's Community Support Services programme helps residents build stronger neighbourhoods and access the help they need. The programme is a partnership between the Province of Ontario and the City of Wrenford. Together, they fund projects that focus on prevention and early support for individuals, families, and community groups.
How the programme works
The Province covers up to 80 per cent of the costs, and the City provides the remaining share. This funding goes directly to local agencies, non-profit groups, and community partners that run wellness, youth, and family programs. The City does not hand out cash to individuals. Instead, we work with organizations that provide services like parenting workshops, youth mentorship, and neighbourhood safety initiatives.
Meet your Community Navigator
Community Navigators are your first point of contact for social services. They work in local centres across the city and can help you:
- Find the right program or service for your situation
- Apply for Ontario Works, housing, or child care
- Connect with local food banks, shelters, or wellness centres
- Learn about upcoming community events and volunteer opportunities
Navigators are trained to listen without judgment and keep your information private. You do not need an appointment to see one. Just visit any major recreation centre or drop into the Service Wrenford counter at City Hall.
Advisory committee
A Community Support Services Advisory Committee reviews funding requests and advises City Council on local priorities. The committee is made up of City councillors, local agency representatives, and community volunteers. They meet on the second Tuesday of every month at City Hall, Room 301. Meetings are open to the public.
