Looking for a cozy way to connect with your neighbours while giving back? Meadowlark Knitting for Charity is a volunteer group that meets at the Meadowlark Family Centre to knit and crochet items for local newborns and residents in elderly care homes. Whether you are an experienced crocheter or just learning, you are welcome to bring your skills and your yarn.
We meet every Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., year-round. You do not need to bring your own supplies, though you are always welcome to use your favourite needles or hooks. We provide the yarn, patterns, and a warm cup of coffee or tea. It is a great chance to chat, share stories, and enjoy some quiet crafting time in the company of others.
The group makes hats, booties, blankets, and scarves that go directly to families in need and to the seniors' residences around Wrenford. All materials are provided, and there is no cost to join. We simply ask that you commit to attending a few sessions so we can keep our production steady.
If you would like to join or have questions, please reach out to our volunteer coordinator through the City's community development office at [email protected]. They will put you in touch with the group leaders and get you set up with your first meeting.
