Ambrel Lake Community Kitchens

A volunteer-run program that prepares and shares free hot meals with neighbours facing food insecurity each week.

The Ambrel Lake Community Kitchens brings neighbours together to cook and share food. Every Wednesday from September through May, volunteers gather at the Ambrel Lake Community Centre from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to prepare hot meals. The kitchen is open to families and individuals facing food insecurity. There is no cost to attend or to take home a meal.

You can join the team to help chop vegetables, stir pots, or serve dinner. If you are looking for a meal, simply drop in during the cooking hours. No registration is required. The space is wheelchair accessible, and seating is provided for everyone.

To volunteer, donate ingredients, or learn more about the program, please reach out to the City's community development office. You can email [email protected] with your questions or to sign up for a shift. We encourage you to bring your own containers if you would like to take leftovers home.

All volunteers must register with the coordinator so we can plan for enough food and seating. Children are welcome to help with age-appropriate tasks under adult supervision. Thank you for helping keep our community fed and connected.
