Register for child care

Step-by-step instructions for parents and guardians to apply for a licensed child care spot in Wrenford.

Register for child care

Applying for a spot in a licensed, city-operated child care program is a straightforward process, but it requires preparation. The City of Wrenford manages these programs to support families in our community, from Downtown to Wildrye. Because demand is high, you must complete the application correctly and submit it on time to secure a placement for your child.

Check eligibility

Before you begin, ensure your child meets the basic requirements. Programs are available for children from infancy up to the age of twelve. You must be a resident of Wrenford. If you live in a neighbourhood like Riverside Flats or Southview, you are eligible. You must also provide proof of residency, such as a utility bill or lease agreement in your name.

Gather your documents

You cannot complete the registration without specific information. Have the following ready before you start:

  • Your child’s full legal name and date of birth.
  • Your own contact information, including your phone number and email address.
  • Your health card number.
  • Proof of income, if you are applying for a subsidy. This may include recent pay stubs or a notice of assessment from the Canada Revenue Agency.
  • Any medical or dietary information relevant to your child’s care.

Complete the application form

Navigate to the Child Care Registration Portal. This is the official online form for all city-operated centres. Do not attempt to register by mail or in person without an appointment, as most applications are processed digitally. Fill in every field carefully. Leaving sections blank will delay your application. If you are applying for a subsidy, upload the required income documents directly through the portal. Ensure the files are clear and readable.

Submit and wait

Once you have reviewed your information, submit the form. You will receive a confirmation email at the address you provided. Keep this email for your records. It contains your application reference number. Do not lose this number.

Processing times vary depending on the time of year. Applications submitted between October 30, 2026, and March 15, 2027, for the upcoming fall intake are prioritized. If you apply later, you may be placed on a waitlist. You can check your status by logging back into the Child Care Registration Portal using your reference number.

Contact us for help

If you have questions about the process or need assistance with the form, contact the Child Care Services Office. You can call the main line at 519-555-0100. For general inquiries, dial Wrenford 311. The office is open Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding statutory holidays. If you need to send an email, use [email protected]. Do not send sensitive personal information, such as your health card number, via email. Only use the secure portal for such data.

Remember, approval does not guarantee an immediate spot. You must accept an offer within forty-eight hours of notification. If you decline or fail to respond, your application may be cancelled. Plan ahead and submit your application as early as possible to improve your chances of securing a place in a Wrenford child care program.
