Wrenford Early Learners preschool programs
Help your child build confidence and learn through play with Wrenford Early Learners, our seasonal preschool programs at recreation centres across the city. These programs focus on social, physical, creative, intellectual and emotional development with the guidance of qualified instructors. Children aged three to four years old are welcome.
Program locations and sessions
We run sessions in the fall, winter and spring at five recreation centres. Each season introduces new learning skills, and your child can join a new group each time.
- Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre (Benchlands)
- Northgate Aquatic Centre (Northgate)
- Westbrook Community Arena (Westbrook)
- Ambrel Lake Recreation Centre (Ambrel Lake)
- Eastfield Twin Arenas (Eastfield)
Programs run for ten weeks each season. Class times vary by location and day. Check the program guide for specific schedules.

What a typical day looks like
Each session blends structured learning with free play. A usual day includes:
- Free play: Tabletop centres, blocks and pretend play areas help children practice sharing, problem solving and fine motor skills.
- Circle time: Group songs, story reading and seasonal themes build language and listening skills.
- Art and science: Hands-on projects like nature crafts, sensory bins and simple experiments encourage creativity and curiosity.
- Physical activity: Indoor movement games and outdoor exploration (weather permitting) develop gross motor skills and coordination.
- Snack time: We provide a nut-free, dairy-free snack daily. Please send your child with a water bottle and a small healthy snack if you prefer.
Safety and inclusion
Child safety is our top priority. All instructors hold current Standard First Aid and CPR certificates and are trained in healthy child development principles. Staff-to-child ratios follow provincial licensing standards.
Wrenford Early Learners welcomes children of all abilities. If your child has specific behavioural or physical needs, tell us during registration. We will work with you to make necessary adjustments. For children who require a dedicated support worker, parents or guardians are responsible for arranging and funding an aid. We also offer adapted recreation support through the Inclusion Support Service.
