Where to go

Wrenford offers two main waterfront areas with accessible entry points to the water. Both locations feature paved pathways, accessible washrooms, and adaptive equipment you can borrow. Whether you want to swim at Ambrel Lake or fish along the Tamsin River, you will find a space designed for you.

Ambrel Lake Park

Located at 1350 Ambrel Lake Road, this park features a gentle, paved slope leading to a sandy shoreline. The accessible beach mat is available from late June to Labour Day. The park also includes accessible picnic tables and washrooms near the shoreline.

Riverside Flats Park

At 25 Water Street, you will find a raised boardwalk that extends to an accessible fishing platform and a flat, packed-gravel entry zone along the Tamsin River. This area is ideal for watching the water, fishing, or wading in shallow areas.

What you can borrow

At both locations, you can borrow equipment from the seasonal information kiosk. Staff or volunteers will help you set up the gear. Available items include:

  • Beach access mats for wheelchairs and strollers
  • Adaptive flotation devices for all skill levels
  • Accessible picnic tables and washrooms

Rules and safety

Lifeguards are on duty from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily during the summer season. The beaches are not supervised in the early morning or evening. Please keep pets on a leash and do not bring glass containers.

The Tamsin River can have strong currents. The accessible fishing platform is for fishing and quiet observation only. Swimming is not permitted in the river section at Riverside Flats Park.

Plan your visit

Both parks have accessible parking spaces located near the beach entry zones. Street sweeping does not happen at these locations during the summer months, so parking is clear and easy to navigate.

You can bring your own food and drinks. There are no food vendors on site, but you can walk to nearby cafes in the downtown area using the Tamsin River Trail System.

Seasonal notes

The beach access mats and adaptive flotation devices are stored from October to May. During the off-season, the paved pathways and boardwalks remain open for year-round walking and trail access.

Check the Service Alerts page for any weather-related closures. Heavy rain can sometimes make the packed-gravel entry zone at Riverside Flats Park slippery. Staff will post signage when conditions are unsafe.
