Copper Ridge storm water study
The City of Wrenford has completed the preliminary drainage assessment for the Copper Ridge neighbourhood. This study, conducted in 2019, identifies areas where surface water accumulation and drainage capacity require immediate attention. The findings highlight specific zones where existing storm sewers are undersized or where grading issues contribute to localized flooding during heavy rainfall events.
Residents in Copper Ridge are encouraged to review the attached findings. The assessment indicates that several properties along the lower slopes of the neighbourhood are at higher risk for water intrusion into basements and rear yards. To address these issues, the City is planning a series of infrastructure upgrades, including the installation of new catch basins and the expansion of existing storm sewer lines. These works are scheduled to begin in the spring of 2020, pending final budget approval by City Council.
In the meantime, please ensure that your [[Lot drainage and rear yard grading]] is in good order. Proper grading directs water away from your foundation and reduces the burden on the municipal system. Do not discharge sump pump water into the sanitary sewer; it must go to the storm system or be directed onto your lot. If you are unsure about where your water is going, contact us at 519-555-0100 or email [email protected].
The City will also be conducting [[Street drainage and catch basins]] cleaning in Copper Ridge prior to the spring thaw. This maintenance is essential to ensure that catch basins can handle the increased volume of meltwater and spring rains. If you notice a blocked catch basin or standing water in the street, please report it immediately by calling Wrenford 311 or emailing [email protected].
Further details on the construction timeline and any temporary traffic or parking restrictions will be posted on our website and distributed to affected households in early 2020. We appreciate your patience as we work to improve the resilience of our storm water infrastructure.
