Where tour buses can park and load
Large coaches and tour buses must use designated loading zones or pay for parking meters. Stopping a vehicle that is not a tour bus in a tour bus zone is a by-law violation. Tour bus operators must follow these rules to keep our downtown streets safe and flowing.
Designated tour bus zones
Wrenford has year-round and seasonal tour bus zones for loading and unloading passengers and luggage. The main zone is located along Water Street near the Fallsview Arts Centre. During the busy spring and fall seasons, we also open the temporary zone on Tamsin Street between Mill Street and Church Street.
Find the zone nearest your drop-off point by checking the posted signs. Always read the signs to confirm when the zone is active and what the time limits are.
Permits and fees
Tour bus operators need a permit to use the designated zones. You can buy a daily or seasonal permit online or at the Downtown Transit Terminal.
| Permit type | Cost |
|---|---|
| Daily permit | $45.00 |
| Seasonal permit (April to October) | $1,200.00 |
Seasonal permits cover all days from April 1 to October 31. Daily permits are valid for 24 hours from the time of purchase. You must display the permit clearly on the front windshield. Tour buses that stop in the zone without a valid permit are subject to a fine.
Loading and parking rules
To keep traffic moving and pedestrians safe, tour bus drivers must follow these rules:
- Do not block crosswalks or intersecting sidewalks.
- Do not stop or load within 6 metres of a crosswalk or bus stop.
- Do not double park to load or unload passengers.
- Pay for all parking meters occupied by the bus while the meter is in effect.
- Limit engine idling to three minutes unless passengers are actively loading or unloading.
- Do not park on residential streets or lanes outside the designated zones.
- Follow all posted time limits for the tour bus zone.
