What the property tax by-law does
The Property Tax By-law sets the tax rates for properties in Wrenford each year. It is the legal document that allows the City to collect taxes to fund local services like garbage collection, road maintenance, fire protection, and community programs.
How rates are set
Each spring, City Council reviews the municipal budget and provincial tax requisitions before approving the by-law. The final property tax rate is set after the province sends its required share for education and other provincial programs. In Ontario, roughly two-thirds of the residential property tax you pay stays in Wrenford, while the remainder covers provincial requisitions.
For 2026, the City will pass Property Tax By-law 2026-045 alongside the 2026 Tax Levy By-law 2026-044. These documents break down how much each property class will pay and how the money will be split across City departments, capital projects, and debt repayment.
When you pay
Property tax bills follow the Ontario property tax schedule. Interim bills are due on the last business day of February and April. Final bills are due on the last business day of June and September. If you prefer to pay monthly, you can register for the Wrenford Tax Instalment Plan (WTIP) through the Wrenford eProperty portal.
Where to find the by-law
The City Clerk keeps the official copy of each year’s property tax by-law on file. You can view the current version on the By-laws page. If you need a printed copy, please contact the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall. A small administrative fee may apply for printing.
