Transparency and accountability policy

Learn how the City of Wrenford governs itself, manages public funds, and keeps you informed about council and administration decisions.

About this policy

This policy explains how the City of Wrenford manages its operations, makes decisions, and keeps the public informed. It covers the rules that guide City Council, senior leadership, and all City departments. The goal is to make sure every decision is clear, fair, and accountable to the residents of Wrenford.

How we govern

City Council sets the direction for the City through by-laws and motions. The City Manager and senior leadership turn those directions into action every day. We follow Ontario laws, including the Municipal Act, 2001, the Planning Act, and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA), to make sure our processes meet provincial standards.

Policy categories

Our corporate policies are grouped into areas that match how the City works:

  • Corporate governance and strategy — Rules for how Council and administration work together, including conflict of interest, gifts, and task forces.
  • Financial management and reporting — Standards for budgeting, accounting, asset management, and public financial reporting.
  • Human resources and workplace standards — Guidelines for hiring, leaves, respectful workplaces, and employee conduct.
  • Procurement and asset management — How we buy goods, hire contractors, and maintain City property and equipment.
  • Information management and privacy — How we handle personal information under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) and how we share public data.
  • Emergency management and business continuity — Plans for keeping the City running during major disruptions.
