What is the Accessibility Strategy?

The Accessibility Strategy sets out how the City of Wrenford will remove barriers and prevent new ones in our services, programs, and facilities. We follow the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) to make sure everyone can reach, understand, use, and contribute to our city. This covers physical spaces, digital services, and customer support. For more details on City-wide accessibility, visit the accessibility overview page.

How we built the strategy

We developed the plan in two phases, based on feedback from residents with disabilities, seniors, and community groups.

  • Phase 1 (2018 to 2022): Established our definitions, guiding principles, and baseline commitments.
  • Phase 2 (2023 to 2026): Focused on a multi-year action plan to put those commitments into practice across all departments.

You can read the full Phase 2 action plan and plain language summaries in the documents section.

Report an accessibility barrier

If you notice a barrier in a City building, on a trail, in a program, or on our website, please tell us. You can report it online through Service Wrenford, or send an email to [email protected]. We review every report and work with the right department to fix it.

Accessibility Committee

The Accessibility Committee meets monthly to advise Council and staff on how to improve access. The committee includes residents with lived experience of disabilities, staff from relevant departments, and community partners. Meetings are open to the public. Find out who sits on the committee and how they operate in our committee directory.

Request an accommodation

Need a sign language interpreter, large print materials, or a different format for a City meeting or event? Please give us two weeks advance notice. You can contact Katrina Doucet, our Accessibility Coordinator, at 519-555-0142 or [email protected]. We will do our best to arrange your request. Virtual meetings include automated captions.

What is happening next

We are updating our multi-year action plan to align with the 2026 budget cycle. Staff will present progress reports to Council each quarter. The next community report back will be held in the spring at City Hall.
