Reports and Decisions

2023–2026 Strategic Plan for Sustainable Growth

The committee reviewed the draft strategic plan, which outlines priorities for community development, environmental protection, and service delivery over the next four years. This plan guides how we serve you in the years ahead. Staff recommended that the committee endorse the plan and forward it to Council for final adoption. The motion was carried unanimously. You can view the full plan on our News page.

Winter Maintenance and Parking Updates

With the annual Lights at the Falls event coming up in December, the committee reviewed the proposed updates to the winter maintenance schedule and parking restrictions. The goal is to keep the Tamsin River Trail and downtown pathways clear for visitors and residents. The committee approved the updated schedule and recommended it to Council. The motion was carried 4-0.

Zoning Amendment for Corvid Way

The committee discussed a development application on a former industrial site along Corvid Way. Staff noted that the proposed building height exceeds the current zoning limits. The committee decided to refer the application to the Committee of Adjustment to review for a minor variance before any further action. The motion was carried 3-1.

Development Charges for Wildrye

The committee reviewed the proposed development charges for the new Wildrye neighbourhood. These fees help fund the roads, parks, and water systems needed for the growing area. Staff recommended approving the charges to ensure infrastructure keeps pace with construction. The motion was carried 4-0.

By-laws

No by-laws were passed at this meeting. The Planning and Environment Committee recommends by-laws to City Council for final approval.

Adjournment

The meeting adjourned at 5:45 p.m.
