Reports and decisions

The committee reviewed the draft 2024 Curb Ramp Installation Plan. Members noted that the proposed schedule prioritizes high-traffic commercial streets but leaves several residential corridors in Ward 4 untouched. The committee recommended that the City add three additional ramps to the list to ensure full coverage of the planned construction zone. (Carried)

Next, the committee discussed the upcoming Winter Maintenance By-law. They agreed that plowing routes for accessible transit stops should be posted online by November 15 each year so riders can plan ahead. The committee approved this recommendation for submission to Council. (Carried)

Finally, the committee considered a proposal for a new accessibility survey. The survey will ask residents about their experiences using public buildings and parks. The committee voted to fund a pilot version of the survey through the existing community engagement programme. The motion carried with a vote of seven to zero. (Carried)
