Traffic bylaws and regulations

Rules for driving, parking, and using streets in Wrenford, including fines and how to pay or appeal a ticket.

What you can do

You can learn how to park legally, apply for a residential parking permit, and understand the rules for trucks and heavy vehicles on Wrenford streets. This page also explains how to pay a ticket or request a court date if you receive a Provincial Offences Notice.

How to follow the rules

The Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075 works with the provincial Highway Traffic Act to keep our streets safe. You must obey all posted signs, speed limits, and traffic signals. The by-law covers the following areas:

  • Parking: Follow time limits and seasonal bans. During the winter parking ban (December 1 to March 31, 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.), do not park on main roads so snowplows can clear the streets.
  • Truck routes: Heavy and oversize trucks must stay on designated truck routes marked on the city map. These routes are open twenty-four hours a day.
  • Idling limits: Commercial vehicles may not idle for more than three minutes. Personal vehicles have a two-minute limit.
  • Right-of-way: Always yield to pedestrians in crosswalks and follow the rules for bicyclists in dedicated lanes.

Fees and fines

If you break a traffic rule, By-law Enforcement officers or the Wrenford Police Service may issue a ticket. You can pay your fine or request a court date at the Provincial Offences Court. Early payment discounts apply if you pay within ten days.

Offence Standard Fine
Parking in a restricted zone $75.00
Expired meter or ticket $160.00
Parking on a major roadway $160.00
Blocking a fire lane $300.00
Unsecured load on a vehicle $500.00
