Downtown streetscape construction
You may have noticed increased activity in the Downtown area over the past year. The City of Wrenford has completed the major utility upgrades and paving works that began in early 2022. These improvements were designed to modernize infrastructure and enhance the pedestrian experience in the heart of the city.
The project involved replacing aging water mains, upgrading storm sewers, and installing new fibre optic conduits beneath the streets. Following the utility work, crews resurfaced the roadways and sidewalks with high-quality asphalt and concrete. The new paving features durable materials chosen to withstand heavy traffic and harsh winters, ensuring long-term durability for residents and businesses alike.
Construction crews worked Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. During the peak phases of the project, some lanes were closed to allow for safe excavation and paving. The City coordinated closely with local merchants to minimize disruption, and all access to properties was maintained throughout the process. If you have questions about specific work zones, you can contact the service line at Wrenford 311.
With the streetscape complete, the Downtown area now offers a cleaner, safer, and more attractive environment for shoppers and visitors. The improved sidewalks provide better accessibility, and the upgraded utilities support future growth and digital connectivity for local enterprises.
