Who needs this permit
If you run a full-service food truck, trailer, or mobile vendor that prepares and sells food on Wrenford streets or in public parks, you need a Street Use Permit for Food Trucks and Mobile Vendors. This permit is separate from your business licence and your public health permit.
Requirements
Before applying, make sure you have the following ready:
- A valid business licence for Wrenford or your home municipality.
- A current food premises permit from Tamsin Valley Public Health.
- A certificate of insurance showing at least $2,000,000 in general liability coverage. The City of Wrenford must be listed as an additional insured, and the policy must include a 30-day cancellation clause.
- Proof that your vehicle meets the maximum size limits: no taller than 3.8 metres, no wider than 2.6 metres, and no longer than 7.5 metres.
- A detailed site plan showing where you will park and connect to utilities.
Fees
All fees are per month and adjusted for provincial sales tax at the time of payment.
| Service | Fee |
|---|---|
| Street Use Permit (Food Truck) | $125.00 |
| Permit Extension (if you need more months in the same season) | $60.00 |
How to apply
You can submit your application through the Wrenford Business Portal at any time. Search for “Street Use – Food Trucks” to open the form. Upload your insurance certificate, public health permit, and site plan. Our review team will check your application against the approved vendor zones.
Expect a decision within 7 business days. If approved, you will receive a digital permit and a map of your assigned parking zone. Print it and keep it inside your vehicle.
Rules and restrictions
Permits are location-specific. You may only operate in the zones listed on your permit. Common approved areas include the downtown core along Mercer and Tamsin Streets, the Market Square perimeter, and designated zones near the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre and Benchlands Lookout Park.
Follow these rules while operating:
- Peak hour restrictions apply. Do not park or set up between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., or 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., on weekdays. This keeps traffic flowing during rush hours.
- You must keep your vehicle on paved surfaces or marked asphalt pads. Grass and dirt are not allowed.
- Bring your own waste and recycling bins. Do not use city bins for commercial waste.
- No generators that exceed decibel limits set out in the Noise By-law 2016-122. Use electric hook-ups where available.
- If you want to move your location mid-season, you must submit a new site plan and pay the extension fee.
