Third-party billing services

Learn how to authorize the City to bill a third party for your water, wastewater, or property tax account.

What is third-party billing?

Third-party billing lets you ask the City to send a bill to someone else for your account. This is common when a landlord pays a tenant's water bill, or a company covers a resident's property tax. You stay responsible for the account. The City will still send you a copy of the bill and any notices.

Who can use this service?

Any resident or business in Wrenford can set up third-party billing for water, wastewater, or property tax accounts. You must be the account holder. The third party can be a landlord, employer, family member, or service provider.

How to set it up

  1. Fill out the Third-Party Billing Authorization Form. You can download it from the Water Billing or Property Tax pages, or pick one up at Wrenford City Hall.
  2. Provide a recent bill or account number so we can locate your file.
  3. Sign the form. The third party does not need to sign, but you must confirm they agree to receive the mail.
  4. Submit the form by mail, email, or in person. We will process your request within five business days.

Under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA), we can only share your account details with the person you name on the form. We will not share your full account history or credit information. If you change your mind, you can cancel third-party billing at any time by submitting a cancellation request.

Fees and payments

There is no fee to set up or cancel third-party billing. The third party is responsible for paying the bill by the due date. If the third party misses a payment, you will receive a notice. You remain fully responsible for any late fees, interest, or service interruptions. The City will not stop service to your account because the third party failed to pay.
