What is the snow zone?
The snow zone covers all residential streets in the City of Wrenford. When snow falls, crews need clear lanes to plow and treat roads safely. To keep traffic moving and help crews work efficiently, the City enforces an overnight parking ban on these streets during the winter season.
When does the ban run?
The snow zone parking ban is in effect every night from December 1 to March 31. Vehicles cannot be parked on the street between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. You can park on the street again after 6:00 a.m. each morning.
The ban is managed under the Winter Maintenance and Parking By-law 2020-097.
Check your street
Use the Snow zone map to see if your street is included. The map shows all residential roads subject to the overnight ban. You can also use the Interactive city map to search your address and confirm your zone.
Move your car
If you live on a snow zone street, you must move your vehicle off the road before 2:00 a.m. You can park in a garage, driveway, or on a secondary street that is not in the snow zone. If you park in a back alley, make sure there is enough room for other vehicles to pass and that you are not blocking a driveway.
Enforcement officers and by-law staff patrol the area during the ban hours. Vehicles left on the street during the ban may be ticketed or towed.
Exemptions and special needs
The overnight ban does not apply to:
- On-street accessible parking zones
- Streets in the downtown core and Business Improvement Areas (parking is allowed from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., but not overnight)
- Emergency vehicles and municipal snow removal equipment
If you or a household member have mobility issues and need a daytime parking permit, contact the Accessibility team or call 311 to learn about the process.
