About your water and wastewater bill
Your water and wastewater bill covers three main services. These services are funded entirely by utility rates, not property taxes. The bill is sent every two months. You can view your account online, or visit the Service Wrenford counter at City Hall for help.
How to read your bill
Each bill shows how much water your property uses and the fixed charges for keeping the system running. Key sections include:
- Service address and account number: Identifies your property and billing profile.
- Water Treatment and Supply: Covers treating and pumping clean water to your home.
- Wastewater Collection and Treatment: Covers collecting and treating water from your home before it returns to the Tamsin River. This charge is calculated at 85 per cent of your total water usage for residential properties.
- Stormwater Management: Covers street drainage, flood protection, and river health infrastructure.
- Days Billed: The number of days covered by this bill. It usually falls between 28 and 32 days.
- Meter reading: Shows your actual or estimated usage in cubic metres (m³). One m³ equals 1,000 litres.
Make a payment
You can pay your bill in several ways. A 2 per cent discount applies if you pay within 14 days of the bill date.

Common questions
Why is my bill higher than usual?
A sudden increase often points to a hidden leak. Check your toilets and outdoor spigots first. If you cannot find a leak, call 311 or email [email protected] to request a high-consumption investigation. Please allow two business days for us to review your account.
Why does it say “estimated” on my bill?
If our meter reader cannot access your meter, we estimate usage based on your past bills. When we finally get an actual reading, your next bill will be adjusted to match what you truly used. You can submit a reading yourself by calling 311 or emailing the billing team.
Can I pause service charges if I am away?
Service charges are flat fees that cover meter reading, billing, and infrastructure maintenance. They do not change based on how much water you use, so they cannot be paused for extended vacancies. This keeps the system fair for all ratepayers.
What if I need a new meter or a service transfer?
We charge a $150.00 fee for replacing a missing or damaged meter, and a $25.00 fee for transferring an account to a new owner. These fees cover the equipment and administrative processing.
